Next show will be held on
4th February 2017
Are you ready for our 2017 show? .... We are.
This year our Guest of Honour is one of our own. Mr Bill McDonald, who has farmed in Nimmitabel all his life following generations of his family before him. Bill's grandfather was part of the show committee 100 years ago. Bill himself will be turning 86 on show day and to make it even more special his granddaughter is this year's showgirl.
This year's showgirl is Shannon Payten-McDonald who is part of the McDonald family who have been in Nimmitabel for many generations. Come and meet Shannon at the Show or earlier on Australia Day at Lake Williams.
All of our usual events and attractions this year will be at the show, including the popular Show Shear, sponsored this year by Greenland Merino Stud, with the new 3 stand shearing board. The Chainsaw Events, including post ripping, is a must watch and usually draws a large crowd. The fun filled mates race will be held at the end of the day so if you have a good mate that enjoy a bit of fun and a laugh, why not enter and win some prizes.
The packed Horse Schedule will run all day, starting very early. Once again, we expect a large number of high quality entries. The Stockman's Challenge will be held in Ring 2 this year with a new course map that will be available only a few days before the show. Come and watch the awesome skills on display as horse and rider tackle a series of obstacles.
The inaugural Nimmitabel Bushkid's Challenge proved to be very popular last year, which took the organisers by surprise. We are planning an even better challenge this year. Get the kids together, ages from 5 to 12 years can enter. Starts approx 2pm in Ring 2.
Last year the Yard Dog Trial attracted a large number of entries, so many that they were still running trials after dark! So this year, we will be kicking off early at 8am. These dogs show their natural ability to herd sheep and it is one of those events that is hard to walk away from once you start watching. The Stud and Commercial Cattle sections are once again expecting to showcase some magnificent beasts. The new and improved sheep shed means that the Judging Competition is now under cover and the Sheep Section events will flow smoothly throughout the day.
