WOW, what a fantastic show we had this year on 6th February.
This year's show Guest of Honour was The Governor-General, Sir Peter Cosgrove and Lady Cosgrove. After officially opening the show Sir Peter & Lady Cosgrove walked around sashing champions of the show and chatting with many show-goers. We thank them for taking the time to come to our Country show and making our show a huge success it was. Even the weather was fantastic!
The 2016 Nimmitabel Showgirl is Sarah Blyton enjoyed her day talking with people and being a part of the official opening.
All of our usual events and attractions this year was outstanding, including the popular Show Shear, sponsored this year by Greenland Merino Stud, looked awesome with the new 3 stand shearing board. The Chainsaw Events including post ripping was again very entertaining and drew a large crowd. The fun filled mates race held at the end of the day had a twist in the course design made it enjoyable to watch, so we are going to make it a bit more challenging next year.
The Stockman's Challenge was held in Ring 2 this year and attracted a great crowd. Awesome to watch some of the obstacles the horse and rider tackled. Once again, the packed Horse Schedule was run very smoothly and the quality of horses at this year show was magnificent, such high quality was a credit to all horse owners. Looking forward to seeing them again next year.
The new kids event this year, the Nimmitabel Bush Kids Challenge proved to be very very popular. The kids had such a great time with mud throwing, reining race, and many more fun filled challenges and all walked away with a show bag. This event will definitely be back next year.
Our fabulous four legged friends again entertained the crowd all day at the Yard Dog Trials and I mean all day! This year the number of dogs trialing was so large that it didn't finish until Dark! Well done to the Stewards for putting on a great display. The Stud and Commercial Cattle showcased some magnificent beast. The Sheep Section flowed well throughout the day with more room to move and it was great having the Judging competition under cover in the sheep shed also.
