2017 will be our 7th Annual Nimmitabel Show Shear Competition.
The Greenland Merino Stud Nimmitabel Show Shear competition was formed to promote and encourage excellence within the shearing industry, interest in wool and an appreciation of the art and skill of sheep shearing. This competition will showcase the professional work ethic and standards that contribute to efficient wool harvesting and optimum clip preparation that in turn benefit end users of Australian wool. This year the competition will be held in the sheep pavilion in our brand new shed! Spectators and competitors can watch the sheep judging and junior judging and can also check out the commercial sheep, fat lambs and goats whilst watching the shearing!
The Greenland Merino Stud Nimmitabel Show Shear competition will consist of four sections:
Elders Novice Section
Hazeldean Intermediate Section
Jemalong Senior Section
Gordon Litchfield Wool Open Section
Each competitor will shear 2 sheep in the heats and finalists will shear 4 sheep in the finals (learners will only shear 1 sheep in the heats and 2 sheep in the finals).
The Monaro Wool Services Wool Handlers Competition will consist of three sections:
